Francis Marion "Frank" Poteet
July 11, 1879 - January 21, 1919


Frank was born in Zavala County, Texas , the son of Washington Reed Poteet and Nancy Carline Weaver Sanders Poteet. Washington Reed Poteet was one of the sons of Frances Marion Poteet - the founder of Poteet, Texas.

Frank grew up in Zavala and Uvalde Counties, in south Texas. Several cattle and horse brands are registered to him in both counties.

In the early 1900’s, he went to the Roswell, New Mexico area with several other family members. Then on to Rodeo, NM where he built a cabin near his half-brother, Pleaz Wiley Sanders. They worked the ranch together. Frank married Allie McBee (date unknown).

Frances Marion (Frank) Poteet died from the flu epidemic that swept the nation. There is one tombstone with his name and that of his half-brother Pleaz Wiley Sanders on it. T they died a week apart and are buried in the family cemetery.
