Mission

It is the mission of the Hidalgo County Detention Center to safely and securely detain persons arrested awaiting trial and/or sentenced to the facility in a clean, humane, disciplined, structured environment directed by a trained professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Custody and control of those persons removed from the community by the criminal justice  system
• To protect the community by preventing inmate escape
• To protect inmates by providing a safe and drug free environment during their incarceration
• To provide a structured and disciplined environment
